Shopper searching for a seller on a tablet

Want to buy from a seller you used before, check out a seller before you bid, or see what a competitor has listed? eBay lets you search for a specific seller, but the option is easy to miss. Here are the ways to find a seller on eBay on a computer and on your phone.

Quick answer

On a computer, select Advanced next to the eBay search bar, open the Sellers section, choose Only show items from specific sellers, type the seller’s username and search. You’ll see every item that seller has listed.

Method 1: Advanced Search (best on a computer)

  1. Go to eBay and select Advanced next to the search button.
  2. Choose By seller, or scroll to the Sellers section of the form.
  3. Tick Only show items from and select Specific sellers.
  4. Type the seller’s username. You can add keywords too, to search within that seller’s items.
  5. Select Search.

Method 2: From a listing

If you have one of the seller’s items open, or an old order, select the seller’s name on the listing. That opens their profile or store, where you can see all their items, read their feedback and save them as a seller you follow.

Method 3: Your saved sellers

If you saved or followed a seller before, you’ll find them in My eBay under your saved sellers. Saving sellers you trust is the quickest way back to them, and you can get updates when they list something new.

Method 4: On the eBay app

The app doesn’t always show the full Advanced Search. Search for an item you know the seller stocks, open a listing, then tap the seller’s name to reach their profile. Or open eBay in your phone’s browser, switch to the desktop site and use Advanced Search.

If you only know part of the name

  • Search for a very specific item the seller is known for, then check the seller on matching listings.
  • Look through your purchase history in My eBay if you bought from them before.
  • Check your eBay messages, which show the usernames of sellers you contacted.

Before you buy from a seller

  • Read their feedback score and recent comments.
  • Check their return policy and handling time on the listing.
  • Keep all payments and messages on eBay, so you stay covered by eBay’s buyer protection.

For sellers: help buyers find you

Use a clear, memorable username, keep your store name consistent with your brand and encourage repeat buyers to save your store. If you need a new name, see how to change your eBay username.

Questions people ask

Can I search for an eBay seller by their real name?

Not usually. eBay search works with usernames and store names, not personal names.

Why can’t I find a seller on eBay?

They may have changed their username, ended their listings, or closed their account. Try searching an item they sold or checking your past orders.
