If your products already sell on Amazon, Walmart Marketplace is usually the natural next channel: no monthly fee, a similar fee structure and less crowded listings in many categories. Here is a seven-step plan for adding Walmart without breaking what already works on Amazon.
1. Apply to sell on Walmart
Walmart reviews every application. US sellers need a business tax ID and a W-9, and your Amazon sales history helps show you can deliver. Have your business documents ready and answer any follow-up quickly. Full walkthrough: how to sell on Walmart Marketplace.
2. Pick the products to start with
Start with proven sellers that have GTINs and healthy margins after Walmart's referral fee. Leave out items with thin margins or that are oversized, and add them later once you know your Walmart costs. Check margins first with our Walmart profit calculator.
3. Move your listings
Walmart structures product data differently from Amazon, so listings rarely transfer as they are. Map each attribute to Walmart's category template, match existing Walmart listings by GTIN where they exist, and rewrite titles to Walmart's style. Bulk upload templates or listing software save time once you have more than a handful of products.
4. Price competitively
Walmart may unpublish items priced well above what the same product sells for elsewhere. Keep prices competitive with your other channels, and remember that Walmart's referral fee is charged on the total sale price, including shipping you charge.
5. Choose how you will fulfill
You can ship Walmart orders from your own warehouse or a 3PL, or send inventory to Walmart Fulfillment Services. Units in Amazon FBA can't ship Walmart orders directly. Compare the options in our WFS vs FBA guide.
6. Keep inventory in sync
Selling the same products on two marketplaces means one stock count has to serve both. Set up a shared count per SKU, sync often and keep a small buffer, so a sale on Amazon doesn't turn into a Walmart order you can't fill.
7. Watch your performance from day one
Walmart measures on-time delivery, valid tracking, cancellations and response times. Check your Seller Center performance dashboard every week during the first months, because early problems are easiest to fix before they affect your listings.

Questions sellers ask
Can I copy my Amazon listings to Walmart?
You can reuse your titles, descriptions and images, but you will need to map them to Walmart's attributes. Listings rarely transfer perfectly, so review each one before it goes live.
Do I need new UPCs for Walmart?
No. You can use the same GTINs, such as UPCs, that you use on Amazon. If a product already exists on Walmart.com, you add your offer to that listing.
